It's a 88 s10
Ok I just changed the sparks plugs.
it had started acting up.
Sometimes it would not start would turn but not fire...
now it wont run .. starts and can get it moving but give it gas and start to go it trys to die.
I started looking at engine and come to find spark plugs where louse - just two of four.
So i decided i should change them.
Changed them hooked it back up.
Now it starts and wants to die as you start it up.
It will start but acts even worst them before.
I can't even get moving.
It is raddeling or knocking.. somthing like that.
I shut it off and starts ticks for a fue secionds.

If there are vaccum lines to the distributor. There is probably a temperature switch in the head for Dist vaccum closed at start up and open at operating temp. If engine is morning cold and you feel sucking at the dist line that switch is bad. You can also clamp the dist vaccum line closed to start and unclamp it when car warms up a bit. That switch is a ported vaccum switch
If it has no vaccum line to dist. or sometimes no dist. there is a sensor.
If stuck open and trying to start with switch opens creates a bad misfire and wont start.
If switch is closed engine will run like crazy at start and quit at warm up.
Timing is everything
Thats a place to start after the basic.
If you live in a climate where it is cold. It might not start for work in morning and almost start when ya get home and drive ya crazy.

Check and see if it has an electric choke. Is closed at cold and opens gradually over 2 minutes or so could be going bad an smoking. could be from fuel being burned
Good Luck

Ok ....
It seams to start fine now.
BUT it runs high rpm's for like 15-20 secionds at start.
I don't even drive it in this high of rpms.
It looks like it's about to overheat after like a min.
Shutoff and you will see smoke come from hood.
It could be cool today cause it's raining here in flordia.
But still it will do the high rpm's every time no matter if i shutoff for 2 seconds.
I have a fealing it is some sensor.
I unpluged on that is on the air filter thing front side of truck.
It started the same and nothing changed.
The vid don't make it seam so bad.
But still it is high rpm's

I have no idea waht i am looking for.
Just took pic's hoping it can help.
The tube from front of engine to radiator is really hot.

recorded sounds are very hard to translate to real sounds, always lose something in translation, but that motor sounds sick. Sounds like a rod knock
the RPM at start up doesn't sound terribly high to me.

There isn't any knocking any more.
When I shutoff it will tick or somthing in engine.
But not nearly as bad as it was.
It's been raining all day and don't look to stop so tomarow I would be abel to get a better video.

The hose is the upper radiator hose. It should be screaming hot since it is carrying boiling water. If the gauge is telling you that its overheating, I suspect a stuck thermostat which lives under that aluminum water neck on the engine side of the radiator hose.

The belt-driven thing here is the alternator. It charges the battery.

Here you are looking down in the throttle body at the injector. You should expect to see a little haze coming up out of there after you shut down. The gas that was injected evaporates out as a white-ish haze, and you probably have some combustion gasses floating back out. A little is normal. A lot could be an indicator of bad rings or a bad PCV valve

This little box that says GM on it is the MAP sensor. It reads vacuum in the intake manifold and its one of the sensors that tells the computer how much fuel to inject
http://a316.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/88/l_7ff5e85643e125a0cea64811aa98b65b.jpg
You're getting a good bit of oil leaking out around your valve cover. This is probably the smoke you see coming out from under the hood. The engine gets hot and burns the oil off and you see the resulting smoke. Do you see how the oil is leaking down on the exhaust manifold? That manifold gets glowing hot as it carries 1500-degree exhaust gases out, so that burns whatever is on it.
http://a469.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/115/l_5a3d5aadf2396fd5714f1a1ab3a28c94.jpg
The little can on top of the snorkel is a vacuum operated door. When the engine is cold, the door selects to get air from around the exhaust manifold to help warm things up. When the engine has warmed up that door swings the other way and pulls cooler air in from the hose on the snorkel.

That blue plug is (I think) the relay for the air injection pump. Its an emissions control thing in the exhaust that wouldn't affect how the engine ran.

Here you are looking at the side of the throttle body. The fuel line is the hard line coming in from the right, the 90-degree wire plug is the injector wiring, and the throttle cable goes on that half-moon thing on the left.

The thing with the two posts and one wire is a power distribution block. It really doesn't do anything with the engine. The plug appears to maybe be the unused wire for the air conditioning.
