Oil Catch Can

Would you guys recommend an oil catch can for my car? I've been looking around and they say they filter out the gases coming from the engine too. Now I don't have a problem with oil going anywhere, but would it be worth it? Just wondering. Thanks!

I bought an RRE catch can for my car. The reason I got it is because there was oil throughout the intake. All of my intercooler piping and the SMIC was covered with a film of oil. I have since replaced all of this, and put the catch can on. There is no more oil in my intake. This particular catch can has a valve at the bottom that you can open and see how much oil is getting pushed into it. IMO it's really not worth it unless you are having problems with the oil entering the intake. But it's not very expensive, and extra filtering never hurts.

When I went turbo I just put a small filter on the breather port on the valve cover. Every now and then I would get a burst of oil that would blow the filter off and shoot oil all over the hood and engine bay. I put a catch can on it and ran the filter off the can and dont seem to have anymore problem. I have to empty the can occasionally but at leasts its not all over the motor.
I opened the hood earlier this week to find oil all over the motor again, this time it can out of the dip stick. I think I have a little to much blow-by.

I'd do it. Are you meaning that there is no oil getting into your intake? If not, then theres no point, the gasses going into the VC will be filtered anyway, and its not like a open chamber with two nipples on it is going to filter much.

It's really hard to tell from the EGR dirt and oil. I think I'm going to go with one anyways. Won't hurt anything... including my wallet. These connect from the PVC connection right?

You can put it on the pvc hose or hook it to the breather port on the VC

Where would the best place be at? And it still has to be connected back to where ever then right? Like goes from the breather to the tank, back to the intake?

Silvr could you post a pic of your bay with the can on? I wanna see were you mounted it.

It only has to connect back if you run it to the pcv valve. I originally had mine mounted where the washer tank was but my SFMU had to take its place so I moved it right below the fuse box.

Cool looks great. My intake pipe has the nipple on it where the breather from the VC connects to. I could run it back to there, but I'm thinking of just blocking that off anyways. Cool. Thanks guys.
