79 trans am cuts off randomly

I have a 79 trans am that just cuts off randomly. I recently bought it and I dont know much about its history...when it runs it runs strong, but it still randomly cuts off. I am able to start it again after a few minutes. Im stumped! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
