for a while i have been slowly loosing coolant and ive been worrying about headgasket or intake leak, but today i found a pool of coolant in a little pocket at the bottom of the engine (behind & below the a/c compressor)...this is obviously why I havnt seen any leaks on the garage floor! It looks like its leaking at the top where I circled, on that plastic part of the pump the coolant line connects to. I cant see if its the pump, the plastic tube or the coolant line leaking. Its been getting on the belt because theres a spray line under the hood. Just to make sure this is a plastic piece the lower coolant line is connected to correct? I have heard they are prone to leaking. Any easy fixes?
The top is where I suspect the leak, the bottom (wich you cant really see) is where the coolant is collecting.

You are refering to the coolant elbow, which is made of plastic. It connects the tensioner water jacket to the engine block and allows coolant to flow to the heater. It is a cheap piece, about $6 at the local O'Reilly's, however it is difficult to remove the tensioner assembly without busting of the casting where the nipple goes into the block above the water pump, especially if the car has high mileage. My advice is to go real slow when wiggling the tensioner off of the block, and DO NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER OR OTHER TOOL TO LEVER THE TENSIONER OFF!!! Ask me how I know this....:banghead:
