shocks on 92 Galant

Years ago it wasn't hard to replace shocks in the rearend of a car, however with new technology some have become quite difficult! Is it difficult to do this on my newly accuired Galant? Are special tools required?

Typical strut. Normal tools and a spring compressor. I hope it's not a VR4. Got one, hate it.
