in particular a rabbit..... ive been doing lots of reading online and its seems to be a split decision between 50% love them and 50% really really hate them...

do they really break down alot (i guess it matters who you ask)?

this would be my first new car in about 9 years so i plan on taking really good care of it. and i baby all my cars anyway...

someone inspire me or discourage me....thanks

oh yea one more thing.... is it mostly true that all used vw's that are for sale are the one's with problems? thanks

This really does depend on you and what you REALLY want. Rabbits have been out of production for 23 years but the parts are still availible in abundance. The big chain auto parts still carry parts for them and so do euro shops. They really are great little cars and if you put some money into them they can really fly. I use to hang out with some guys that use to work for Eurospec when I was younger. They had some serious horsepower in their cars and could out run just about anything they went up against. Light weight, rigid, great on gas and easy to modify makes for a really fun little ride. If I was going to get another old watercooled VW I would definitely pick one up. Here's the link to Eurospec www.eurospecsport.com

Enjoy.
