Ok I know some of these GAs should really be just thrown away but my wife loves hers so I put up with the crap it gives. It has a starting problem. Cranks over but won't start. It won't start in the morn but start when you get home then always start for days-weeks --months -until it does it again. There is no rhyme nor reason. Its as tho the fuel pump isn't on. It has spark but no gas. Its been to 3 shops and 5 mechanics and each time something is found and fixed yet the problem comes back. Its as if an alarm was shutting down the pump--could this be ??? Passlock??? Just last week she takes it to work--sits for 8 hrs and won't start. This time I say let it sit . We go back in the morn and it starts right up--ANY CLUES will be appreciated.:banghead:

Well first was the intake manifold had a crack , then the wire harness to the fuelpump replaced , injectors cleaned , fuel filter-Blah Blah Blah-They wanted to change the fuel pump but it always works when they have it !!!- A couple times I tried to tell them what it may be but they know better !!-Good thing she has AAA-- LOL---How do I reset the Passlock . I've just been reading about passlock/theftlock . I don't think we did anything with the radio. We had the car since 02 and it cost that much more to keep her every year with picking up my wife.

Just one more thing it does it more around water !! I'm talking humidity , sprinkler, just dumb wet. I read most of the Passlock threads I could and THIS IS MY PROBLEM... A reistance problem that shuts off the injectors BINGO. Now I read what seems like 3-5 ways of getting rid of the problem ( the yellow wire ).. In the boards opinion which is best sice --key--ignition--are all temp fixes..Thanks again.

pass lock doesnt have anything to do with the radio theft system. Here is the passlock reset....

Security relearn procedure:

1) Attempt to start the car by turning the key to the Start/Run Position.
2) Observe that the vehicle fails to start and that the security light is illuminated.
3) Release key to the 'ON/Accessory' Position. (DO NOT turn key to the 'off' position.)
4) Allow the vehicle to sit with the key in the 'ON/Accessory' Position for no less than 11 minutes.
5) Turn key to off position and allow the vehicle to remain in the 'OFF' position for no less than 30 seconds.
6) Repeat #1 - #5 for 3 cycles.
7) On 4th attempt, car should start.

NOTE : Since this is a fairly long procedure, I would limit all electrical sources, such as disconnecting headlights, to prevent discharge of battery.

NOTE 2 : It is SAFE to wait LONGER than the allotted time, but it is not safe to wait less time. I.e. 12 minutes instead of 11 minutes should be safe; however, waiting 10 minutes instead of 11 minutes is not safe.

Properly executed, this procedure should take approximately 35 minutes to complete

If its water related, then it would be something in the wiring under the car/hood that gets wet.

The hack for the passlock is a temp fix, and not recommended.
You can still have issues even when the hack is done.

With the proper equipment and technical experiance a passlock issue can be fixed correctly.
The Ignition switch, ignition lock cylinder, EBCM, or the PCM could be where the problems are if it's a P. Lock problem.

Also if your wife has many things hangin from her key chain, that can cause P.Lock troubles.

If the security light is "ON" or flashing then you do have a passlock problem.

good luck
