Can anyone tell me FROM EXPERIENCE if any of these claims i've heard hold any truth to them, or any other problems with a b18c1 to 4g swap. And if some/any are, how hard is it to work around the problems.
1. B18c1 just doesn't fit in the engine bay of a 4g
2. B18c1 sits too high and hits the hood of a 4g
3. B18c1 sits too low in a 4g
4. Integra gsr axels too wide for a 4g
and the list could go on.... I've heard all of these from peeps (in the yahoo groups...) who claim to have done the swap. anyone here actually done the swap and have any info about any of this.

u should use the search button... but the engine is too big for the bay, its not that it sits too high or low its just that its larger top and bottom make hood clearance and bottoming out a problem

I asked the mechanic at this new import shop close to my house today (real small shop, looks like an old abandoned duplex, and the guys don't look too bright there anyway...) he said that the b18c1 has almost exactly the same exterior demensions as the b16a, he said it should be no problem fitting in there. I don't really think he knows what he was talking about tho.

i had no problems dropping my b20 in....although the header likes to bang and scrape on the ground...no issues with the hood closing but thats just me...i dunno for a b18 though... ;)

You can put a b18c1 into a 4th gen. I have seen pics of a b18c5 in a 4th gen before. As for the engine being too low, I don't know.

it will fit but i heard depending on the mounts used you might need to mod the hood and the bottom havn't heard any issues about that but it will fit

Why would you pay for a stolen motor? The pieces of shit who took it got it for free.
I'm glad I dont have to think abou a decision like that.

It will fit. Lets face it, it's almost the same dimensions as a B16A (very slightly taller) and Honda crammed those into the 4th gen from the factory.
How did Honda do it? They relocated the engine mounts on the chassis and engine to change the engine angle and mount it slightly lower down. They also changed the bonnet shape to increase clearance.
How can you do it? Get the custom mounts that do the same job but in a different way to the way Honda did.
It's a popular swap over here, especially with the ITR motor and running gear.
Your mechanic is dead on the money - the nay-sayers are full of shit :)
