any ideas

Friday, my wife was at a light and her trailblazer died - just stopped running. She said it smelled gas and she tried to start it but it would not. Someone stopped to help her and it started right up. any ideas. She changed her story about how it died out 4 times so she really could not tell me what happened. She said the check gage lite come on but not sure if it came on after it died or before. The only time I see the check gage lite is when I start it up. It seems to run fine. I have driven it all weekend and no problems. It is a 2003 with 36,000 miles on it.

Not much to go on here, try getting a full scan and check for pending codes.
