Week 1 regular season... :crying:
But I did pick Dallas to beat NY in my picks league :)
I'm thinking we need a brag or bawl thread so we can have weekly updates as to who's team kicked ass on Sunday and who's team sucked ass... maybe with some mod power we can merge the two similar existing threads (this one ans the steelers-browns one) into one for league-wide reactions. Eh? Agree? Disagree?

Actually 00accord44 not a bad idea.
We could just make a general NFL thread and sticky it to the top of the forum. Just like you see those O/T threads at the tech forums. Pre season, regular season and then a post season thread. Also, break it down to NFC and AFC conferences.
Any suggestions for a thread title(s)?

I was thinking "NFL Brag or Bawl/ Cheers and Tears" or perhaps something simple like "The Official NFL Thread"

lol once again I picked dallas to win in my picks league. In one of my fantasy leagues a guy offered to trade me tony romo and chris brown from the titans for tom brady. Its the hardest fantasy trade decision I've ever had to make. But tony goes up against the immovable object (aka DA BEARSSS D') next week so even if I trade for Romo I wouldn't dare start him next week.

i got romo going against bears D in my league. unless i start matt shaub. not sure of the better choice since andre johnson will be out this week.
let's hope j. jones can carve the D up like he did in the Thanksgiving game a couple years ago.

Here is some interesting info on T.O. Fined $7500. IMO this PC stuff in the NFL is going too far. Might as well call it the Nazi Football League. :shakehead
IRVING, Texas (AP) - After seeing the videotape of Terrell Owens' latest touchdown celebration, the NFL office wasn't laughing.
Owens said Wednesday he was fined "a good chunk of money" — which he later defined as thousands of dollars — for a celebration that included him using the goal post and football to poke fun at the New England Patriots' spying scandal during Dallas' 37-20 victory over Miami this past Sunday.
A league spokesman said the fine was $7,500.
"It wasn't even the fact I used the goal post as a prop," Owens said. "They said I used the ball."
Beyond being confused about what he can and can't do, Owens is frustrated by the league's policing of end-zone scenes.

As soon as I saw the clip of the celebration on the sports segment of the news, I knew it was going to cause a stir. I just thought he was gonna get fined for using the football as a prop in an endzone celebration, even though that rule is ridiculous too. You can't do anything in the NFL anymore. I think Goodell feels the NFL is the most profitable sports organization because of his strict enforcement of rules and harsh punishments, but I think its the most profitabl in spite of his iron fist. He inherited a great product from Tagliabue, I just hope he doesn't ruin it while trying to keep it pristine.

Not gonna happen. Our (Bears) d-coordinator is much more aggressive than R. Rivera. Running against the Bears will not be easy. They shut down LT and LJ the first two weeks. I highly doubt J. Jones is going to do any better.

Here is some interesting trivia type info concerning the upcoming game with Buffalo. :bananasmi
This will be the first meeting between the Bills and Cowboys since Nov. 9, 2003. Dallas won that 10-6.
Coach Wade Phillips was a former head coach of the Bills and was fired at the end of the 2000 season when he failed to lead the Bills to the postseason for the first time in his three years. Since then the Bills have never made the playoffs.
If Dallas beats the Bills :grinyes: and go 5-0 it will be the first time in 24 years of being undefeated at week 5.

Well whatever happens, I started Romo over Brady in one of my fantasy leagues this week so he better bring the heat out against the worst pass defense in the NFL. Brady put up about 300 yds and 3 TD so anything short of a 350 / 4 performance tomorrow will be a let down for me.

Well starting Romo over Brady certainly turned out to be a mistake. Luckily I blew out my competition with the rest of my offense.
Next week will definitely be a good one. Me and a bunch of people at work are reserving the VIP room at a local sports bar to watch the Bears vs Vikings at 12 then Cowboys/Pats at 3. It will be a glorious sunday :sunglasse
...but who will I start on my fantasy squad??? :runaround:

I'm looking forward to Sunday's game but I don't think I'll doing any betting on that one. :grinno: For amusement purposes only.
You know that game with the Bills was ironic or a real puzzle. When was the last time a NFL team actually trailed in points (i.e. losing) throughout the whole game and then won? :screwy:
Technically when Folk made that final field goal there was 0 seconds on the clock. I'm glad it did not go into overtime.

I started Brady (thank God). Me and a bunch of coworkers went to a bar to watch the gaes of the day. We're all Bears fans except for one Cowboys fan (originally from Texas). First we watched the heartbreaking Beas loss aided by the constant heckling by our resident Texan. Then we were treated to the transformation from shit eating grin to dejcted frown on his face. Plus I won $100 in our stripcard pool :D
The Pats look quite unstoppable. Going into this game I really thought Dallas had a chance to win but I must say I'm impressed by what I saw. It seems to me that tonight was a preview of the superbowl. As of week 6 I don't see any NFC team beting Dallas and I don't see any AFC team beating New England, not even Indy. I can't wait to see them match up Nov 4

The Pats looked good and no doubt it was the Brady Show. But I wouldn't say they are unstoppable. Too early to tell. Whichever team in the AFC or NFC beats either the Cowboys or the Pats will be one least expected to win and IMO will happen sooner or later. :grinyes:
I think Indy has the best chance of beating the Patriots. They did it once before and that one will count. I would not underestimate Peyton Manning or Coach Dungy. :grinno:

I have no sympathy for Philly fans ever. They are the worst! Passionate about their teams both in a good and bad way. They'll be cheering their asses off in one minute, then the next they're booing their own team off the field. I'm glad TO is stickin it to em. Bill Cowher says the Pack is the best team in the NFC right now. I'm not quite sure I agree, but I'll definitely be at BW3s watching that game since its only on NFL Network.
If the Packers do win, I'll definitely take a small bit of solace in the fact that the Bears handed them their ony loss this season (so far) even though the Cowboys walked all over our D :disappoin

NFC championship preview, anyone?
I think this will be like the Cowboys/Skins game, but most likely a higher scoring affair as Favre is a much more better passing QB than Campbell. Both QBs are on fire and shouldn't have trouble scoring with their talented receivers and tight ends, I don't believe either team's defense is that good. I wouldn't be surprised to see an overtime here.

Cowboys 37, Packers 27 :biggrin2:

Man, what a game!!! :grinyes: IMO D's defense did a great job. After that it's the Romo and T.O show as usual. What happened to Bret?
11-1

I went to a couple bars to try and watch the game but it was standing room only everywhere I went. Then I was in the car about to head to my fourth bar when I heard on ESPN radio that Favre was out of the game, so I figured the Pack was toast and I went home. I'm suprised they kept it as close as they did though. I'm just happy I had the 4 in the strip card at work... $50 for 00 :sunglasse

Man was I happy we got NFL ticket just yesterday afternoon so we could see this. Hellz the fuck yeah.
Too bad Favre got hurt, but at least the backup showed some talent which is good for the Packers. Kinda reminded me of Jay Cutler actually, the way he scrambled. Overall though, Favre and the gang were not really on their A-game tonight, especially the defense.

"the backup" lol. Aaron Rogers proclaimed himself the top pick of the draft in 05 and this is the first action he's gotten in two years.

Nice win, Congrats to Cowboys! Though they are definately not a team I like they took the win. Packers played well so I can not complain. I think that one Cowboys firt down was bs because that was NOT pass interference! lol. But, it was a game well played. You should be happy with your team Bob.

Interesting. It looks like half the country was for the Cowboys and the other half against. Amazing how many people nationwide went out of their way to watch the game. You either love 'em or hate 'em. There were alot of penalties to include questionable calls and setbacks for both teams but IMO the ground work for the win was decided in the 1st half. The Packers had to play catchup and failed to capitalize in the end. Rogers side tracked the D's defense for awhile and they had to adjust. Too bad for Bret but the D's defense was big and brutal. I feel for him.
Basically, the Cowboys secured a playoff berth and if the Bears beat the Giants the Cowboys will cinch the NFC East title. Go Bears!!!! :grinyes:

Helluva game today. I must say I'm thoroughly disappointed in the Lions and how they let that game go. That missed field goal came back to bite em in the ass. But I know who's even more disappointed in them than me... Brett Favre :p
