ok..so I did the mini-me swap.....sohc v-tec head on non-v-tec block....my v-tec worked when I first tried it but now it don't work at all......the solenoid clicks but I don't notice a difference....could it be cuz I'm low on oil hence lower oil pressure?? ignition timing??? help me please....oh and AMI you told me not to do it but I'm a stubborn s.o.b plus I like toying around with stuff...can someone help a fellow 4gfreaK??????? PLEASE!!
my dx might lose to an si now :help:

Are you throwing any codes? sometimes a bunch of trouble codes can lead to VTEC not engaging. Low oil pressure (due to low oil) can also cause VTEC to not engage. if you haven't messed around w/ your connections to the VTEC solenoid or oil pressure switch, then it probably wouldn't be a bad connection. Also, if your engine isn't warmed up completely, the ECU will not allow VTEC to engage and a lower revlimiter will be enforced. What ECU are you running, by the way? stock PM6 w/ an rpm activated swith for the VTEC? got a lot of questions.....time to go to bed. hope that started the foundation for this thread, at least :)
PS- some people might flame you, or rudely correct you that you misspelled VTEC. im not one of those people, but im just tryin to prevent that from happening. just drop the hyphen and you'll be all good ;)

if you're using pm6 ECU with rpm activated switch, it dont matter if your car is warmed up or not. VTEC will engage when the rpm activated switch engages it. the p28 ECU determines if the engine is warmed up enough to use VTEC. The only thing that could cause VTEC not to engage if your circuitry is all correct would be low oil pressure.
Before i did my complete d16z6 swap, i tried to put the VTEC head on my d15b2 block. The oil rings were shot in the d15b2 block so the oil pressure was really low and so VTEC wouldn't activate at all.

hm...I'll check my oil and if its low cool...if its not....I'll get the 95si oil pump....it fits and does raise your oil pressure....I think....I hate being vtec less....how does being low on oil effect the pressure....I would think as long as the oil pump is pumping it would be fine.....no??? I'm just taking a guess

ok...well...I went outside...in the beautiful 32degrees and checked my solenoid..its not clicking...but I hear a sound inside the head but the solenoid is quiet.....is that bad..I'm on my way to get another solenoid....vtec runs right off of 12volt right???? someone told me 9volt....civic parts free for me....love my local junkyard
