Have a 94 Jimmy, Starts fine when the truck is cold (first time of the day) but after driven for a short time than shut off for 5 mins and restarted it runs for 2 secs then dies and then will not restart. I have been able to force it to start by flooring the throttle and then once it fires I have to feather it for a while but then it would run fine again. The EGR is about 6 months old (second one) no codes.

Now this all started after a trip to the mech for running hot, found to have a clogged rad. which was replaced. new thermo also.

Since the problem began I have done new plugs, wires, rotor, and cap. Basic tune up.

I have been told that it could be the Spider or Fuel Reg. (though the old plugs were not wet and it doesn't run rough)

or the Temp sensor

or the IAC (idle air control valve)

anybody have a definative answer, ideas. :screwy:

I had a 94 with the same problems and it turned out to be the inlet air temp sensor. I have a friend with a 94 and it had same problem, as far as I know it just cleared up one day. The only way to know for sure would be to properly test it. Get a fuel pressure gauge and test the fuel pressure, especially when it wont start. Check for spark when it wont start. its not starting for a reason, and fuel and spark are the basics. Once you find out what one is missing we can help you figure out why it is missing.

i bet your fuel pump is going out, maybe another week before it goes totaly. check the shraeder valve for fuel pressure when in the no-start condition. pic courtesy of chris http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p288/Clunk_/Image026.jpg
