Stealthee, make a similar image using the screen shot of 3SI, then let TANP use it everytime a overbeaten question has been asked.

HAHAHA That was HILARIOUS! :screwy: Seriously though you guys must not get out much. I checked the FAQs (again) and I dont see anything about dropping in a v8.

It could be done......anything with cars can be done but it would be more work than your could comprehend and would far more likely than not be rwd than AWD. It would be far easier and cheaper to just stay with the 6G72TT motor and modify it and call it a day. That being said, go look in the FAQ on modding options for the motor that it comes with.

joecaruso
09-10-2007, 09:19 PM
Yea I'm sure it would be tough. Any chance theres a muffler etc. that would make it sound like a v8 at least?
By the way I think the stealth is the best looking car ever made.

Hotshot8792
09-11-2007, 06:57 AM
Why are you so stuck on getting a sound like a v8? The car is not a V8, and it can sound terrific as it is with a V6. I have gotten compliments before on my exhaust from guys who drive V8s.

Ricer or not, it just doesn't make since to drop all that money for a V8, when Dynamic Racing has practically built a 9 second street car (pump gas and street tires) for probably less than you can drop some sort of V8 that might have the power of a stock VR-4 engine.

Grant it, I think some V8's some great, but just from hearing people trying to make a V6 sound like a V8, it just sounds like crap.

why you wanna sound like a v8? i kinda like the fact that people know i have 2 less cylenders than they do, and can still kick their ass in any race...

AutostradaVR4
09-11-2007, 04:22 PM
better to wanna sound like a V8 than wanting it to sound like a dirt bike like so many annoying little 4-bangers are made to. I will Never understand why anyone would want their car to sound like that...

anyways, there are a lot of exhaust options out there. The muff's are all about personal prefrence, but to start you're going to need to get rid of/gut the cat and pre-cats. Getting rid of as much restriction as possible is the name of the game. Then just top it off with whatever suits your taste. Dual twin tips like the stockers...dual single tips, which seem to be the most common AM setup, or a single shot. Borla is my personal prefrence, but like i said, theres plenty of options.

Thanks for the info Blink. What would you suggest (not to offend anyone) for a deeper louder tone once I get my stealth?

AutostradaVR4
09-11-2007, 08:19 PM
im not the one to go giving exhaust advice, since mine is completely stock  but ive heard of people using resonators instead of mufflers...i would imagine that's pretty loud for daily street use though, and im not sure what it does for the tone.

hopefully someone else will have some input.

try searching youtube for "3000gt exhasut" and such...im sure you get some ideas.

Ok since no one said it and I don't think he searched at all...

it's been done more than once, here's a vid:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=zmGSu5jO4ak

The original VR440:

http://www.3si.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=53352&d=1122345248

I think there's 2. He said it ran 11.8 on street tires (the VR440), he is currently working on procharging it, last time I heard anyway.

Have to custom fab a new front end/suspension...good luck.

joecaruso
09-11-2007, 08:45 PM
Thats about the tone I'm looking for.

Resonators huh? I'll look into that. Now all I need is a stealth.

AutostradaVR4

mmm...that video gives me goosebumps. sort of like looking into an alternate reality...or what-if scenario...

how different our world would be if dodge had the upper hand in the 3/s design and decided on a hemi powered RWD. I would have to say they would probably have sold better and would certainly be more well-known today. Of corse that has its downsides...they would have watered it down somehow...made a 4-door version...and eventually ruined the styling im sure, lol. Better to live fast, die young, and be remember for it than to linger on into old age, and become so common and mundane that no one even glances as you drive by...

anyways, back to reality. Makes me glad i live in the sane world of the twin turbo V6

but yea, that does sound pretty freaking good. you can only pull off that sound with a stealth though...wouldnt work with a mitsu. its too distinctly american.

09-11-2007, 09:57 PM
You want a V8 sound. Get a SOHC. :p Seriously. My car is loud as hell at the moment. When I post the video of my trans snapping you'll hear it. My friends dad has a kick ass 67 Dart. He even complimented my exhaust.

Dude, why stop at a v8? Would be more appropriate to drop a Viper V10 in while your already under the hood. I am not sure you could make it sound like a V8 though. IMO the viper v10 sounds like the v6 from hell.

AutostradaVR4
09-22-2007, 09:01 PM
assuming your going to do all the work and customizing yourself, the problem isn't money. You'r going to need to custom fabricate half the vehicle.

Stealthee

There is no "dropping in a V8".. as said its all custom,

I actually don't think I would use my plasma cutter if I was going to undertake a project like this. It would probably be a lot drilling, sawing, and grinding. Maybe some plasma cutting for fun, or removal of problem areas.

AutostradaVR4
09-25-2007, 06:39 PM
if your really serious about this, before you do anything, get in touch with the guy on 3si who has done it. No one knows as much about it as him, and he can tell you first hand exactly what's entailed in the project and about how much time and bank it took.

There is more than 1 person who has done this. One guy did it in a fairly short amount of time and spent almost nothing on it. VR440, did an awesome job but he started with a totaled car. However I would have used a manual trans instead of an auto.

Well I started ripping apart the whole thing right, well it turns out theres like a bajillion pieces in that frigging engine that do god knows what.:wtf:
So I decide "f this" I better put this damn thing back together this is more problems than I need right so I put it back together but the problem is I still got all these parts left. I dont know if I should just throw them in the garbage and start it or if their actually needed. I dont want the car to go up in a blaze of glory you know. You guys got any ideas?

You want advice... call someone that knows what the fuck they are doing to get your car back in order. And number two, dont touch a tool again unless you are handing it to said mechanic.

Extra parts means you are more efficient than the original designers. All those parts that you have no idea what they do, those are extra, they don't actually do anything, you can throw them away.
