2002 Starting Issues

I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra GXE. I am having a problem starting the car from time to time. One day it will start fine, the next day it will take 2-5 minutes to start up.

I turn the key over to start the car and will crank, crank, crank start then stall right away. Crank Crank Crank.... start and stall right away after. Crank crank crank then it will start and run.

A few times I have started the car and there was a clicking noise coming from a Relay down by the driver floor kick panel. I removed the panel and saw the Relay sparking. I replaced the relay and still the same problem.

***Relay Number 25230-79915
*** Replaced Battery
*** Going to change Fuel Filter shortly

If someone could provide some information on what to check and try next that would be great. Also could someone provide information on what that Relay controls????

Thanks for your time!

Oh great!!!

Here comes another fight with the dealer! You see the dealer and I don't get along and my engine does not fit into the cat.

Oh well it goes in tomorrow and well see what happens! I might be looking for a new vehicle.

Thanks for your time!!

Also, any idea what that Relay that I changed controls?

I had the car in at a dealer the other day and they said it was a loose connection on the fuel pump. Seems to have worked, no problems as of yet!

if you have a hand vacuum pump, check to see if your pressure regulator is working. it should hold at least 10-15 inches of vacuum without leaking.

Well, about 4 months have gone... I visited the dealer in between my last post Sept and now with the same problems (third time) and they informed me that I would have to pay for them to look at it for the third time. I choose no and walked away.

January 31 rolls around and the car completely stops in the middle of driving. I had to coast to a stop and had no choice but to tow it in. The dealer got back to me today and informed me that the computer is shot. Thankfully it is covered under the 8 year warranty.

So here is a question, should a computer just stop working after 5 years? I think I might be in the market for a new vehicle...... any suggestions?

the new model sentras had their issues, just like every car out there. its a good idea to wait a year or two on a new engine or car before you buy it to wait for the manufacturer to clean up any gremlins. that said, your car is fine, the b15 i guess is known for some CPU issues but i wouldnt say its a bad car because of it, not even close. now if you do decide on a new car i can point you in a good direction, just tell me what your looking for in your ideal horseless carriage and ill name off at least 5 that you would be happy with.
