Vehicle make: Pontiac
Model: Grandprix
Year: 1998
Engine: 3.8
Mileage: 100,000

Q: Is it possible for the oil in the supercharger to get into the radiator?

This car has an obvious oil residue in the radiator, after repeated checking of all fluid levels the SC oil is the only one that is low, also the oil in the SC has a foul odor, not really burnt just bad, is this normal? I notice that this oil has no odor when new.

Welcome to AF!!

To answer your question the answer is no! The residue you are probably seeing is residue from the Dexcool that is in your radiator. If it bothers you have the system flushed and then replace the coolant with Prestone extended life antifreeze. It is much better and will mix with any remaining Dexcool in the system and it won't hurt the engine.

As for the supercharger oil it will have a foul smell. It really stinks. Use a turkey baster and a piece of hose the will fit and draw all the old oil out and then replace it with two bottles of GM supercharger oil. This will help prolong the life of the supercharger and will make it run quieter.

If your car has Dexcool the best replacement is the Prestone Extended life.

There are other antifreezes that are extended life and they will work just as well. I just prefer the Prestone! And it will mix with the Dexcool without causing any problems.
