I am replacing the lower intake manifold gasket on my 1994 3.4l 5 speed Camaro when I find out I have to remove the rocker arms and rods to fit the gasket home. Ok, no problem. UNTIL---I dropped a rocker arm bolt into one of the holes above the cam shaft where it promptly disappeared.
What do I do now? Can i go to the local auto zone, get a new bolt and let the old one live in my oil pan? (Oil pan removal requires engine removal in this model).

If it really is in the oil pan get a large speaker magnet and put it on the oil pan and move it around to catch the bolt. Remove the pan drain plug and se if you can move the bolt over to the hole to verify that the magnet has a hold of the bolt (it probably won't fit out the hole) Move the magnet/bolt to the back end of the pan in the deepest part of the sump and leave the magnet there to keep the bolt out of the way of internal moving parts. Other than that you are going to have to take the pan off to get the bolt out.
