Hi all, I found the engine oil leaks in my 95' Jetta GL (please see the attached pics). Does anyone know what the problems are? Is it a bad head gasket? Also, sometimes oil alert light flashes and beep's on when driving on a heavy traffic rd in hot wheather. Thanks a lot!

The place on the left (1st photo) looks like your intake manifold. It's a strange place for it to be leaking. Check out your pcv valve. It also sounds like your engine may be getting a bit too hot. Do you see anything unusual with your temperature gage? If the oil gets too hot, it can smoke and get sucked through the pcv into the intake, then condense. I'd make sure your cooling system is working properly and that you're using thick enough oil. The oil warning is the most concerning thing. Try adding some Lucas oil stabilizer. If the oil pressure is dropping enough to cause an alarm it means that it's either getting too hot or your bearings are seeping too much. The other place you pointed out is the valve cover. It's not at all unusual to leak there. A new gasket only costs about 5-10 dollars. Use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts (~ 85-95 inch pounds).

Thank you, Doug. I will check it in the weekend. the temperature gauge seems to work fine. It did not work before because of a bad temperature sensor. But after I replaced it, the gauge works fine. I've already added some Lucas Stabilizer (about half a qt.) to get my power for 10 days and the engine warning light has been off since then. I thought it might be because the weather was getting cooler. Now I understand it may be due to the function of stabilizer. thank you again!
