if you go to Mong Kok, go to where the hospital is, and there's an alley that sells ALL sorts of models...it's actually a whole street...i'm sure you will find something there.

2 years ago I went to that street and found an Evo IV, I thought I was lucky because I thought Evo IV models have stopped production. However, the Evo I which I was also looking for were not being reissued, went into a mall (the entire mall sells models and toys) there were a couple Evo I or II for sale and not for cheap, I remember it was $12XX HKD.

Was the 12xx HKD on a price tag? Or was it 'declared' by the shop owner?
IMO I find the price on a EVO 1 at 1.2k HKD a little 'scammish'. But I may be wrong.

That was a very small store with enough space to just sit the store owner inside(most stores in that building was like that). Since there were also many people standing around the door me and the owner just exchanged words without me even touching the model. You are right, as soon as I heard how much he wanted I turned away. There is no way I am buying a plastic model for that price doesn't matter how rare ($1200hkd is around $170cad)

Hasegawa Evo I and II are hard to come by nowadays, but charging HKD1200 is absurd
