Driver Seat Module?

I have a 2000 LS V6. I'll try and be quick in my explanation of what's going on. Seat Memory and Easy Entry doesn't work. I replaced the Seat Memory Swith and The DDM with e-bay parts now the tilt wheel works correctly but seat still does not. The DSM runs $330 from the dealership. Does anyone know how to find out the ford part number, cause I'm sure they use this same device on other ford vehicles which may allow me to get one via other means...(junkyard or ebay.)

Have you checked under the seat to make sure the power seat wiring is in tact? Does the power seat work by the buttons on the seat in all directions, just not from the seat memory?
It may be worth the money to have the diagnostic codes from the DSM read. This takes a special scan tool, but could save you the cost of a DSM. If you get a DTC from the DSM of B1342, you probably have a faulty DSM.
If a new DSM is installed, it needs to be calibrated using the dealer's NGS tool.

Thanks for the response. I have a couple of stupid sounding questions here but I'm a bit of a DIY novice so please bear with me...
1) Which component is the DSM under the seat? Does anyone have pictures because my Ford Service Manual CD-Rom isn't very clear.
2) What's the easiest way to access the wires that have a tendency to go bad (from the front of the seat or the back)
3) In response to Rod's response...All of the seat controls work fine, the seat memory and the easy entry/exit are what don't work. When I replaced the DDM the tilt wheel memory started to work but the seat memory still wouldn't.
4) If i take it to the dealership to run the codes on the DSM what exactly do I tell them to do. Is it "I need to know the DTC codes from the DSM?"
5) I've a couple of times seen a "Body Control Unit" on ebay for LS. Is this another name for the DSM? I noticed that on FordParts it's not called a DSM but a "Memory Module" so apparently there are multiple names for this item. I've also noticed that searching for DSM Lincoln LS on google is no help.
Thanks for all the help, this forum is an invaluable resource for us owners.

According to the factory service manual that I have, the DSM is located under the seat mounted to the seat track. There are three electrical connectors attached to it, two on one end and one on the opposite end. Two screws are on the end with the single connector. It looks like once you got your sear removed, the diagrams in the manual should line up pretty nicely with the actual seat. Do you have the factory service manual on CD-ROM, or an aftermarket manual? If the factory manual, are you in section 419-10?
This may seem like a dumb question, but have the memory functions and easy entry ever worked since you had the car? The easy exit on your V6 can be enabled or disabled by the dealer. Also, I'm not positive on the seat memory, but it can probably only be programmed and used with the car in RUN and Park. That's the way it is on my Infiniti which threw me for a loop when I first got it. Since it threw me for a loop, I don't think that's the way my 04 LS worked. Do the mirrors and steering wheel work when you select a memory? It's not clear to me if the steering wheel movement you say works is for the Easy Exit or when you press a memory button. It sounds like from bullet 3 in your latest post that the steering wheel moves when you select a programmed memory.
On my OTC Genisys scan tool, there is a separate menu for the "Driver Seat" to pull codes or enter the datastream. I would expect the dealers NGS or WDS system would have a similar Driver Seat menu.
I would guess that a Body Control Unit is either the Front Electronics Module (FEM) or Rear Electronics Module (REM) but not the DSM.

I'm using the Ford CD that I purchased on amazon. I went to section 419-10 and it made sense. I'm not sure why I couldn't figure it out before. Anyhow, none of the seat memory or easy enter/exit functions have worked since I owned the car. In fact, the guy I bought it from said the dealer he bought it from (not a lincoln dealer) told him this option was not included on this car (even though it had the switch in the door.) I initially thought it was the DDM or Seat Memory Switch. When I replaced the Switch, it changed nothing. When I replaced the DDM, the easy enter/exit steering wheel functioned properly and the seat memory would recall the locations of the steering wheel, (I'm not sure about the mirrors.) But, the seat didn't respond to either seat memory or easy enter/exit. This is what made me determine both the DDM and DSM must be bad. I pulled the new DDM out because I didn't have time to go up and have the key fobs reprogrammed. On this model there is no way to manually program the key fobs. So anyhow, as of righ now I have no seat memory or easy enter/exit functions on the car. If I put the new DDM in and have the fobs reprogrammed I'd have memory functions on my steering wheel position, so i suppose that would be half the battle. Do you think replacing the DDM would make the wheel function even if the dealership had disabled the feature? This might be worth a scan at the dealership. The only problem is my dealership, they seem to love to charge ridiculous amounts of cash for simple procedures.
BTW, is $300 reasonable for plug replacement? Seems really high, I would do it myself but I'm a little nervous about taking off the intake. Thanks again for all the help. Rod, you're a diagnostic machine!

On the V6, $300 to replace spark plugs is probably reasonable to have a dealer do it. It's not a trivial process. Any, since you have a 2000, you can probably expect that they'll find leaking valve cover gaskets and suggest you replace them too for an extra $150 or so.
I'm not positive on if the steering wheel would move if the easy exit feature were disabled. I doubt that it would, so I think your assessment that the Easy Exit feature is probably enabled is accurate. It does seem logical that the DSM may be the remaining problem, but you may want to troubleshoot it a bit more to be sure. Since you have the wiring diagrams, you can access the connector pinouts and check a few signals to make sure the right signals are getting to the DSM to have higher confidence before replacing it.
