Slight wheel pull

I have a slight pull in the steering in my truck. I think it may be a caliper that drags a bit. It seems to be tougher to steer to the left than the right. The truck stops straight but always seems to go to the right a little bit while driving. I had the alignment checked not long ago and everything was ok.

was it pulling when you had the alignment checked?

you could have a sticky caliper. I would check for leakage and grease pill-up from the axle. However a caliper would not play on your steering. you may have a power steering problem.
Can you discribe the steering issue a little more?

Check your tire pressure. Do you have the same tires on both sides of the truck ?

Tire pressure is good all around. I rotated the tires but it has been doing it for a while. While I had the tires off I checked for play in the ball joints and steering components but didn't feel or see anything. The only thing I noticed was that the drivers side caliper moved freely while the passenger side did not. I am going to try and swap front tires from side to side and see if it helps. I tried this before and it didn't seem to make much difference. If I let go of the wheel the truck wants to go to the right, I have to keep the wheel at about 11 o'clock to keep the truck going straight. It does take more effort to steer left than right. Sorry for the random thoughts.

If you do replace the caliper you should replace both sides otherwise you might get even more braking problems.

What I meant was that the caliper moved on the pins well. It was able to slide good while the passenger side felt stuck. I was thinking about removing the caliper and lubing all the slides and pins on that side to hopefully free it up.

My truck is out of warranty. Are those tsb's covered like a recall? It does seem to be hard to turn in "parking lot conditions". I don't have the $$$ to pay for repairs right now.

unfortunetly TSBs are not nessessarily Recalls. They are just information bulletin's to inform the customer that the factory is aware of the issues, but is deemed not a safety hazzard. Some TSB's are recalls. Unless you can convince the dealership to pick up the tag, you will be out the $$

I do remember the dealer checking to see if I had the faulty brake booster. I don't have that so what is the remedy for lack of assist? Is it replacing the steering pump? Or does it end up being the booster after all? I think I can manage to change the pump if that's what it is. Will that possibly correct my other steering issue? Just trying to save some $$ if possible.

If you change the pump you will need to change the gear box, go with an aftermarket. These pumps and gearbox's are weak for these trucks. Check www.truckperformance.com or http://www.agrperformance.com/
