i have a 93 rodeo 2.6 with a 5 speed. are these trannys reliable. i have been told they are absolute trash but i wanted to check with the pros on the forum

The 5-spd's are VERY stout transmissions.

The auto's can be very stout as well, as long as they're taken care of fluid replenishing wise, and not abused.

Either tranny is no less reliable then any dodge/ford, etc.

one more ? is it true the 5 speeds use dex 3 for fluid i want to change it but cant find what fluid it uses

Per my Haynes manual for 1989 - 1997 Rodeo's/Amigo's, it specifies for the following 5-spd transmissions:

MUA & MSG models - Engine oil

BW models - Dexron II or Dexron III auto tranny fluid

Hopefully others WITH 5-spds can chip in here for ideas on what they use, both my rodeo's were/are auto's.
