Random Thinking: Dyno

Just thinking outloud here. Is it possible to have a dyno that just say, attaches to the wheels or hubs, like if the car is on jack stands? So lets say we jack it up, hook some sorta device on the wheels and and then do a run. Would something like this actually work? Think out loud here people.

its a really good idea. i dont see why it wouldnt be possible? but i would worry about the car jumping off the stands while switching gears.

What would supply load to the wheels?

See that's what I was thinking of. You need the weight of the car right? What if you're just measuting crank?

Dont they make a dyno like this. I believe I have seen pics of where the dyno just bolts to the hub.
