key pad on 96 tc

I put the 5 digit code that I saw in on the right side of the truck but The nothing happened. What did I do wrong. I also tried to program a key fob using the key on/off 10 times thing. nothing happened then either what all I doing wrong

After you enter the factory code, press 4 to unlock driver's door, press 4 again to unlock all other doors, press 5 to unlock trunk. There is no key on/off 10 times thing to program a key fob................................

Search this Town Car forum for "Keyless Programming". You'll find plenty of instruction relevant to your 1996.

If the remote won't program, it's dead or dead battery, or the wrong model for your year.

Does 7/8 9/0 pressed simultaneously lock the doors? (keys in hand)
