01 T&C Info questions about the transmission

Yeap, the transmission is about dead. I would just like to let people know that is not a good ideal to drive your minivan when you go into limp mode. Get it towed! Anyways,

The dealer wants 3800 for a new one - 600 is for labor
3200 for a rebuilt one - 600 is for labor
2000 for rebuild kit for the one I got now

New and rebuilt both have the 3yr/80000. Only difference is the a new one has a new casing and the rebuilt has a used casing, all the internal parts are the same. If I get it rebuilt something different could fail and I'd be out 2000. They only replace the converter, and seals with the rebuild.

Ok, I am wondering what transmission it is exactly - I would like to see if I can buy one online that is used, say maybe off one that was wrecked and has low miles. I think only the 01 and 02 will work but don't know for sure. All the info I can get on this would be great, and hopefully before the dealer calls me! Thanks

i would go with the reman cheaper and just as reliable as a new one and with the same warranty
