iPod AUX IN on Stock '03 Cavalier Stereo

Hi all,

Found this forum after searching for instructions on removing the car's dash which proved to be a lot of help (thanks, Classicrocjunkie!).

I tried searching for a similar thread to make sure I wasn't being repetitive, but wasn't able to find anything. And so, my question:

I'm looking to be able to play my iPod through my car stereo on the cheap, as I don't have the money to buy a new deck, mounting bracket and wiring harness. (And I'm not interested in the poor quality of FM transmitters.)

Basically, I was intrigued by the fact that the Cavalier's stock deck had an AUX button on the front, which led me to wonder if some cheap wiring trick/adaptor combo would let me plug in my iPod to the aux input on the back of the deck.

In pulling out the deck yesterday I discovered that there is indeed some open wiring space that I would imagine is for the aux input -- but I have no idea what type of interface it is (proprietary?), or where I would start even looking for an adaptor.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks a bunch!

this is exactly what you need and is simple to install, and for 100 bux well worth it if you dont want to spend a ton of money on aftermarket decks and adapters

or, you can buy a kinda decent deck for 150, get better sound quality, and not have to worry about the wiring. just the route i would go, but to each his own.

you could do that but you have to buy the dash that the deck sits in, the wire adapter to make the stock wires work with the new deck, and he will lose his chimes

chimes schmimes.....they get annoying anyways. i was just inferring that if i were to spend any money, i would want a lil more oomph outa it. but that would be the way to go if u were on a budget.
