Hey, pheww...finally got a dsm, A 4 DOOR DSM!! lol...2 years of hard work has paid off and i got this galant vr4 from a good friend of mine. I've seen it drive at all seasons and now i have it to bring it to the next level.
Mods (right now)
-rebuilt motor w/42k on it
-stock internals
-stock o2 downpipe
-stock intake/i.c. pipes ( :( )
-ported head ( :) )
-stock exhaust manifold
-evo3 16g
-custom 3" exhuast system
-tuned S-AFC
-stage 3 chipped EPROM ecu from some shop in L.A.
-190 lph fuel pump
-greddy profec-b electronic boost controller
Right now, the 16g feels nice from 3-6.2k revs, but after that, there is no power sucking me into my seats and right now i am concerned about which turbo to upgrade to...(18g??) I know it needs some UICP and a FMIC, so that is my first mod to do within a month. Just wondering what mods i should do to it after the fmic or does the evo 16g really unleash its power when i add the fmic to it?? need help and suggestions from you guys. THANKS!
p.s. i am going to get a retune when i get the FMIC in, so expect dyno pics in the near future! :)

Sounds like you have basically the same setup as I do. If you are going for a bigger turbo, you will probably want to upgrade the 190 to a 255. Depending on injectors, you might want to upgrade those too.
You should notice a good difference with the addition of a FMIC. Decide weather you are going to have short route piping or the UICP in the stock location before you get your intercooler. I kept my dejon UICP on for about 4 months until i got the intercooler that came with short route piping. It was a waste for me to even buy it.
As far as turbos, it depends on what kind of power you plan on making. That bastard 20g on slowboy looks interesting, but i haven't heard many reviews about it. I've read alot of threads about people ditching the 16g and going with the PTE 50 trim, and from what I've seen everybody has found it to be a good choice. Go ahead and get a 3inch downpipe too, that should let the turbo breath better and free up a little extra power
Also if you were looking for a little more topend power, cams would be a nice addition. My BC 272's took forever to get to me because they had to be shipped from overseas. As far as I know, everybody has them on the shelves again so you shouldn't have a long wait. They're less expensive than all the other cams, and I was satisfied with the results.

the kind of power i was looking around was maybe the 350awhp range, i dont want so much because its still "okay" on the gas mpg-wise. but i was thinking about forced performances 18G-6SL2 Turbo ( http://store.forcedperformance.net/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FP&Product_Code=NTDSM18G6SL2&Category_Code=DSM-Turbo )
how are your 272s? i heard it was more aggressive than stock, is it stronger? thanks!

That actually doesn't look like that bad of a turbo. I haven't read any reviews on it, but from what I've read, Forced Performance makes a good product. That really isnt much of a step up from the E316G which flows 550cfm, and rated at 380hp. That would be like upgrading the t25 to a t28. In my opinion the E316G is a great turbo with lots of potential, I loved it as soon as I made that first WOT pull.
Is the VR4 awd or 2 wheel drive? If it's 2wd, it might be good to choose a turbo with a little bit of lag time, to kind of cut down on wheel spin. But that's all up to you.
Yes the 272's have a more agressive idle lope, but i kind of like the sound so that didn't matter much to me. Decreased bottom end power was sacrificed for increased top end power. I noticed the power immediately, and it pulls strong all the way to redline. Full boost time was raised from 3200rpms, to around 3400 rpm's.

I don't see a BOV on that list, if your still running the stocker I would swap that out, especially since you are planning on a bigger turbo.
After that I would definately upgrade the downpipe. It's cheap and can net you some decent gains for the price.
Also get an ebay cheapo intake. They work great and they are dirt cheap.
I would also recommend looking at a 20g for turbo size. An 18g is kinda a middle turbo between a 16g and a 20g and really isn't worth the money you are going to put down on it, especially for minimal gains. But I also agree with what TEMG said. If you have a big 16g its capable of making the 350 mark.
also to TalonEclipseMixGsx, The Galant VR4's are AWD.
And man are they the hottness!

Who needs to stop? lol Well for brakes i would suggest Axxis ultimate pads mine were $104 Shipped and i can absolutely stand on the brakes and they dont lock up all i do is stop really really fast defenitely an mprovement over stock. One thing to watch out for with a DP is boost creep but i defenitely noticed a significant improvement with mine. i dunno about a turbo im gonna keep my 16g till about 350 i think its defenitely possible. Love the VR4s BTW

thanks for reponding guys. i've had some sweet mods in plan. I do need a FMIC asap for sure and will be getting an aftermarkete BOV because im pretty sure the 1g cant safely handle 20+ psi sometimes. i was also planning to get this! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-DSM-o2-Housing-Dump-Pipe-Tube-Eclipse-1g-2g-4g63_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQihZ005QQite mZ150157858130QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW man that is cheap...hopefully it aint that cheap when i use it. but for now i really need the FMIC.
