I bought a 96 civic dx about a year ago and have done quite a few things to it.
xenon headlights
performance grill
color changing gauges
ractive color changing tach
shift knob - rbimports.com (real hot)
pioneer 6 x 9s
mb quarts
halo chrome tailights
B3 obx bomb muffler
clifford top of the line alarm (260 but i got it for 80 - my mad Best Buy discount)
17" RSGT rims w/ kumho tires
- will be recieving chrome Halo headlamps this week
now the big problem is that my car is slow as balls
i am looking for something to make it faster ( and please dont' tell me to get a new car or ask me why i got a dx- its all i could afford at the time)
now i just want some suggestions for performance
please help me out, and possibly e-mail me : [email protected]

Start with an intake and header, since you already have an exhaust. The 3 main things to help your car breath better.

Yea, I don't think im gonna swap the engine. I mean I don't have that much money to spend and if did I would just buy a new car. I understand the intake and header and I might end up buying them but i was wondering if there is a great deal of difference between the brands. I was also wondering if there was a site that lists the hp change in a civic dx. Thanks

I don't know of any sites that would tell you for your exact car. But you could probably expect about 8 hp from your intake, exhaust, and header. Which you would definately be able to tell a difference with that. Also some upgraded spark plugs and wires, fuel rails, aluminum flywheels, ignition. The list is endless of fairly cheap bolt ons.
oh yeah, and make sure you get a cold air intake. They draw in cold air, and cold air is denser so you can fit more of it into your engine, and the more air your engine gets, the more powerful it'll be for you.

Ok, ok. Yea i know the grill doesn't add any hp. Thats just what they call it ok. You know what I mean, its just a frame and a mesh grill.

i dont like head swaps. i would just swap in the whole motor instead of fiddiling with frankensteins.
if you spend the $200 for an intake and the $300 for the header. well you could just get a sohc vtec for almost the same price and the sohc vtec will have more power than a dx with an intake and header.
a dx puts out like 94hp, then add 8hp for the intake and header, so you come out with 102hp. but with a sohc vtec, it makes 112hp stock. so with the sohc vtec your already making 10whp more.
