1997 silverado won't accelerate

i have a 1997 chevy silverado 1500 4x4 with a 350. it stopped running on me and found that i only had 37 psi for fuel pressure. i dropped the fuel tank and put in a new fuel pump. i was driving a couple days after i got fixed i lost almost all exceleration. i limped it home not being able to go just more than an idle or else it would choke itself and die. the check engine light came on and all that good stuff too. i found out my bank 2 upstream 02 sensor had low voltage, so i had a new one put in. it was fine for a day or 2 and then had the same problem. it will start right up and rev up fine and then i can pull out of my driveway fine and get up to speed but the first time i take my foot off the gas and then try to accelerate again it tries to die on me. i don't get check engine light or anything on the dash and no codes are found in the computer. what could be wrong?

I've seen very similar issues with a 98 that simply had a plugged fuel filter. It probably wasn't as bad as you're saying, but It might be worth looking into. It's regular maintenance that should be done anyway, I change mine every spring, as I've had issues with it in my 2000 as well. Other than that, sure seems like a difficult problem to locate, best of luck with it.

Test your new fuel pump pressure.

i checked my fuel pressure and it's good, between the specs. the o2 swensor code came up again, P0151. i'm going to try to change the sensor with a new one and see if that works. i know it's getting good ground and good power. i bybasses the 2 signal wites from the VCM straight to the o2 sensor and it still reads the same so i know the wiring is all good to the sensor. how can i check to see if it's the VCM or not?

O2 sensors could make your engine run bad and not set a code. Your catalytic converter could be pluged. What is a VCM ?

is there any easy way to rule out my catalytic convertors? the VCM is the Vehicle Control Module.

it has a problem linked to the o2 sensors. i bought a brand new oem from GM and it still has the same problem. i plugged the new one in and on a tech 2 the voltage started out at 400mv and then dropped to 50 within 2 minutes. i can switch my good sensor from bank 1 to bank 2 and then put the new one in bank 1 and i then have the same problem with the new sensor only it's on bank 1 now. no matter where i put the new sensor, that bank acts up. i have 11.62 V power going to both sensors with the key on and engine off, and they have a good ground. if i leave the good sensor hooked up and unplug the new but have it installed in the pipe, jumper both signals wires so that they are the only wires hooked up (leaving both heater wires unplugged) the scan tool reads a perfect signal matching bank 1 and both of the downstream sensors. this is all with the key on engine off. i'm am just short of going nuts and have done everything i can think of just short of beating on it with a hammer. what else can i do?

i replaced both o2 sensors and the truck tons better. no codes or anything like that. also part of the problem is that the check ball in the fuel pump assembly is bad and so it can't keep pressure in the line. thanks for all the help.

Did you replace the Fuel Filter? the syptoms you were telling us points to the fuel Filter.

no i didn't replace the fuel filter. i replaced the 2 upstream o2 sensors and the fuel pressure regulator. and now i've confirmed that the check ball in the pump assembly is bad.
