Venture (2002) Will not start

My 2002 Venture will not start. In June my wife got an oil change. The Security light came on when she turned the key and the van would not start. The mechanic told her to pump the brake three times and it would start, which it did. The car is due for another oil change date wise but not by mileage. It died yesterday in a parking lot. Turn the key and the instrument panel cycles through Security Low Fuel and Battery in that order. Also Cal Err displays for a few seconds by the clock. Turning the key gets no response; fuel pump does not engage, and the starter does not make a sound. Battery has plenty of juice. HELP!

I can only assume that you have it running by now. Ign switch? Poor connection at batt? Poor connection period ( wire plugs, connectors ect>)

Most of what you described just happened to my 2000 Venture. My wife filled up the tank, drove home, and parked it. An hour later it won't start. The battery is charged, all the other electical stuff works, but absolutely nothing happens when the key is turned to start. The starter doesn't spin or click nor does the fuel pump indicate it's alive. All the fuses are good, I checked the wiring harness under the driver side sliding door and it looks good, I pumped the brake pedal three times, and the battery connections are good. The "info center" on the dash alternates between the battery icon and "low fuel," but does not show "security." When the car is turned to "on," the fuel gauge does not rise at all, even though it has a full tank. The radio will briefly read "CAL ERR" and the overhead console computer does not show any information except outside temp and direction, although when this first happened it showed average econ and inst. econ, but not range. Any suggestions on where to go from here, besides the shop?

I had the same problem. I have a '01 Venture and it did not start as well one morning. Got it towed to a local mechanic shop and they fiddled around and could not find anything wrong. He turned off the radio and it started. No problems since. Don't know if the radio had anything to do with it, but can't figure out what would've caused it.

We just got the van back a few days ago. Apparently the ECM just up and quit. Since it was shot, there were no codes to read. My mechanic got it replaced, but ouch, $700+ for a chip.

Well man if you have not got this problem resolved as of yet I hope that this might help. I have a 2003 venture and one day while doing a preventative Maintenence check on it I found a relay that is located right next to the battery, right below the main fuse block. It is gray in color, my van was not giving me any problems in starting, what I found was that the relay had a hole wore into the side of it. Apparently it was rubbing on the battery insulation foam. I replaced it even though it was not giving me any problems. When I disconnected it the starter nor the fuel pump did not engage. Give it a look, might be that simple!!! By the way it only costs 14 bucks and some change!

Most likely the crankshaft position sensor - all too common on GM V6 engines - the no starting when the engine is hot is the classic symptom.
Its most likely the 24X sensor which is located behind the crankshaft pulley.
For the record: the other one is the 7X sensor and its located on the rear (firewall side) of the engine.
