Security Light And Remote

Is it normal for my security light to only be on when im driving ??? It might have something to do with my remote I changed the battery and cant get it to work anymore . I saw a post on how to program it but i dont get the groung the wire thing >> I dont even see a wire> Thanks for the help if any
