Oldsmobile Customer Service(OCS) Complaints

Well long story short is that the people at OCS kept things pretty well open ended as to afford themselves the luxury of having excuses after all the facts were presented. Brilliant? No; probably they've had a lot of experience being lawyerish especially with the Aleros. So if you don't have a 'Relationship" with the dealer and you are NOT the original owner you are SOL getting anything out of these people.

Lesson Learned: Investigate what coolant to replace the existing with as i suspect that is what caused the Intake Manifold Gasket to go.

Has anyone out there successfully been reimbursed for a claim on a non-recall item for an Alero or other Oldsmobile/GM problem that was out of warranty?

I have the choice of getting a Intake Manifold Gasket (see 2002 Alero oil in antifreeze) fixed at a non dealer and paying the $600-$700 OR taking my problem to a dealer (as required by OCS) in a week, paying the $81 per hour diagnostic fee and hoping Oldsmobile Customer Service finds in my favor.

My advantages are 1) low miles 32,112, 2)I have a record of complaints on file 3) This is a reoccuring problem in 3400 series engines and 4)I'm willing to see this thru as a 'Last Stand'.

Not in favor is 1) dealing with inflated dealer costs and aggravation 2) maybe only getting a portion reimbursed 3) A more extensive bill I couldn't afford and 4) not having the car till a dealer can get it fixed.

Has anyone successfully dealt with these people at OCS??

Thanks
