ok i've replaced pretty much everything. new transmission distributor wires plugs vacuum lines gas tank fuel pump filter. etc. but i have an issue on de-acceleration and acceleration. wants to die. voltage on the dash meter drops drastically on de-acceleration. then the idle will settle down. couple times it's died with a code 33. when accelerating the car hesitates real bad and bogs down. troubles shifting into passing gear when wide open throttle. but if i just ease the throttle it works fine.

CODE 33 = Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP)
MAP sensor output too high for 5 seconds or an open circuit. LOW Vacuum.
Sounds like the vacuum line that runs from the back of the TBI to the MAP sensor is unhooked or badly cracked.

It was badly cracked that was the first vacuum line I replaced on the car. however the problem still exists. Could it be the length of the vacuum line I put from the back of the tbi to the map sensor? I'm not really sure if that could affect it. What about the open circuit could it possibly be electric? a faulty ground or something? I mean I'm at a loss with this problem. also another issue is when I've driven the car and park it I smell a gasoline odor I've been thinking that because of my air filter cleaner housing is bent on the bottom that fits around the tbi it might be letting some odor out of the tbi and that could cause the odor. any more help would be appreciated.

Well there is something wrong with the MAP sensor. Either the vacuum line is not connected or the wires to it are not connected or something. You need to start chasing those wires if you are sure the vacuum line is OK.

How would I go about testing the map sensor. I've read a little bit about testing it but they said I need a map sensor tester in order to use a voltmeter to get the readings. Could I just probe the connector and get accurate readings that way or is the tester absolutely necessary? Can I tell if it is the map sensor just by disconnecting it and starting the car to see if it affects the idle? It hasn't been giving me any more trouble codes and the code 33 hasn't came back up. So could it just be the computer isn't picking up the problem anymore but it is still the cause of my problems? Please bare with me on all the questions.
