hi,
my name is thomas and its my first time posting.

anyways i have a 1997 thunderbird 4.6 v8 and i was wondering where
i should be able to connect a recharge kit to my ac to re-fill it.

the ac works fine it just blows hot air, because it needs the charge.

thanks
thomas

There should be a valve on the low side of the system, but the at home kits are not a good idea. It would be better if you had someone fill it that could measure and test with guages.

check your manual. the home kits are fine as long as they have a guage.

Some people call these death kits. Be careful when using them.

Recharging A/C is easy. I just did it a few months ago. All you need to buy is the connection hose (preferably one with a gauge on it so you don't overfill), and a few (or more) cans of 134a refrigerant (found at Pep Boys, AutoZone, etc... usually under $10 a can). Make sure to read the instructions carefully!! Each brand has different instructions! I connected the hose to my car (95 bird) on the left side of the engine and it's sort of idiot proof because the A/C line was labled (134a) and also because the hose only attached to the correct nosel. You'll know it is working when (1) the can instantly becomes almost too cold to hold and (2) when you hear/see the A/C motor taking the charge (if it's completley empty, it will go off and on, but increase over time). This was in my experience anyway, but I would still recommend doing it yourself to save a lot of money.
