Transmission Fluid Level

Awhile back, I had the valve body rebuilt in my 98 with a Transgo Shift Kit. When finished the tech told me that the oil level should be kept up to the first bend on the dip stick because "these things like it that way". Now I am wondering if that is really true. What do you think? I am tempted to take it back down to the proper level on the stick but am not sure.

Put it at the proper level, overfilling the trans can cause the fluid to airate and this can cause problems

Thank you very much. I pumped about a quart out which puts it right at the full mark. I suspect that the guy over filled it, and did not have the means to take out the extra without pulling the pan. No more work for him.:nono:
