I've seen some pictures, and read some vague descriptions but aside of that I'm clueless. What are they and what do they do? Somebody help me out here please. Thanks for reading.

Intercooled exhaust is just a jacket around the exhaust that is cooled by outside airflow only when the vehicle is moving. its a nice feature on bikes where your leg might come in contact or near the exhaust pipe but totaly unnessary on a car.

Is there any potential performance benefit, or could it change the way my car sounds at all?

0 benefit, and unless you already have some sort of "sport" exhaust you will not notice much if any change in exhaust note.

I hope to get a cold air intake, headers, highflow downpipe and cat, and a catback then if I can find some for a reasonable price I was considering intercooled tips for sound benefit, but I won't spend that much money if I won't get much of a change. With that setup how noticible a difference do you think it would be?
