back to the problem again

you were right its wasn't the battery cables, so here is the problem and i think i found the source. when the car is off and i plugged a voltmeter up to it, it measures 2.57 but when i unplugged the alternator plug it drops to .03 which is normal, should i be looking at the voltage regulator for the problem and if so where is it located or can you send a pic of it so i would know where it is thanks alot

Typically, a problem like yours is caused by a bad diode leaking voltage to ground. The diode pack is located inside the alternator.
Voltage regulator is also mounted internally. Most folks will just get another alternator rather than trying to rebuild their own.
