would you buy it???--

i know where i can buy a 1986 se with v/6 , 135,000 miles. original owner . a/c works,automatic tranny , alloys , original black paint. price for me is $2000. i ain,t worried about the $2000. i am worried that i could be buying alot of problems. question - does the 1986 se hold up for a long time and alot of miles??

I still see some Fieros in my area,( Central NY where a LOT of salt is used on our roads and many vehicles newer than this are no longer around because of this.)With that said you could look at it this way: It would be like buying an older vehicle from the '50s to the '70s and restoring it. You now have this resource available to use that I didn't have 20 years ago. Here you can research possible problems that other members have reported, and ask questions, and network out amongst other members. I would consider a project like this if I had the time and money,(two things I am lacking at the moment:lol: plus I don't think my wife would appreciate "another project" in the yard.
There should still be parts available for a long time to come plus you can tap into the knowledge base here if you should come across an issue you can't solve. The internet is a great research tool allowing you access to salvage yards and other parts suppliers around the world.

I have a friend who has an 86 SE with nearly 270K miles on the odometer. he bought the car many years ago at 100K+ miles on the odometer. If the car has been well maintained, it can be a fun car. Personally, I would not purchase a 22 year old car as a daily driver, but as a hobby car. They are fun to drive, but can be a high maintenance car. I wouldnt buy it...I got my 88 Fiero GT for $400.00 and its in REALLY nice condition. interior is showroom condition. its got 104,326 miles on it. no rot. no body damage. paint is not faded and its been sitting on jackstands for over a year. car is in GREAT shape.

look around before throwing around $2000. find a good deal and use the rest of the money to work on it. brakes,suspension,engine,trans etc. u get it. but 2000 seems like a little much. specially if its not a GT. it all depends on the shape of the car and whats been done to it. good luck with your build:sunglasse-Bugs
