Hey guy's.
We'll I am havin some problems with my grand am gt.
She runs well when I have gotten her going down the freeway and stuff, but when i start it up, it'll putter and die somtimes. But when i try to give it some gas to keep the engine runnin, it dies almost all the time.

Also. when i shift into driver, the car jerks really bad. and when it shifts from first to second and second to third (automatic), it jerks really bad.

Any idea?

Someone told me it might be a bad alternator, but I don't know...

Thanks!
Heath

If it were the alternator it wouldn't run very long. Is the check engine light on? If not then I would start with checking fuel pressure and possibly spark plugs if they have not been changed lately. It is possible that there is a problem with the pressure control soleinoid in the transmission that is causing the jerky shifts. I would have that part checked at transmission shop.
