On my 2000 grand am 2.4 I recently checked the AC preasure in the high and low sides and when I uncoupled the hose from the high side refigerant came out. The preasure was right one both sides but now I have to have the cap on tight so it doesnt all leak out. Could the schrader valve have gone bad?

You mean its a leaking out the valve ??
Probly bent the needle valve or damaged it causing it to leak. Might even be loose... :dunno:
How did you measure the pressure ??

Forgot you asked about the oil ......
Also Most NEW compressors come with about 6 or 7 ounces of oil in them.
You need to empty out the oil that is in your old compressor and MEASURE how much came out.
Then empty out the oil from the new compressor and ONLY put in the new compressor the same amount that you got out of the old compressor which should be abou 2 to 2 1/2 ounces.
Then you have to use a vacuum pump to evacuate all the air out of the system BEFORE you can add the appropriate amount of freon.
Good Luck
