Its about a moded supra beating a 355 in straght line. And they started saying that supras and rx-7 beat ferarris on the track wich is the biggest bs this side of the planet.

He's just trying to spam his forum. Did the same thing in the Lamborghini forums too. and look, only 2 posts and thats where they're from.
I mean come on! who cares if a highly modded supra can beat a completely stock 355, at the end of the day, who's going home in a Ferrari.

actually no if i was trying to spam this forum I would've posted spam or just plain flamed. Next I was asked once in the lamborgini thread & now in this thread to get someone who knew what they were talking about, because I was told I was talking sh*t.
I do believe that Ferrari or Lamborghini owners would be experts, on what their cars are capable of, would they not.?
plus I'm not holding a gun to anybodys head & asking them to drop by supraforums & reply.

I think the 2JZGTE motor is a jem, but the MKIV Supra as a whole isn't such a magnificent vehicle....

I'm still on the waiting list for a ferrari 360 spyder, but i drive a mitsubishi lancer. So i do think those cars can be in the same sentence. Ferraris and all those other exotic cars are really really nice ass cars, but i wouldn't want to drive anyone of those cars as my daily commute to and from work. Those kind of cars are good for the weekend showing off how much money we have, which is why i'm probably buying one. Since i'm still waiting for my ferrari, driving a lancer (or any economic car) is the best idea. They're extremely affordable and most of them don't suck up gas. and you can probably tune them to beat cars like porsches and ferraris, and lambos. But who cares? I'm gonna be driving a ferrari and the poor guy who's in his suped up civic trying to get me to race him will still be driving that civic. A Ferrari is a Ferrari, and no economic car can touch it, even if they spend $$$$$ trying to make them faster.

You can drive a Porsche to and from work, no hassle whatsoever. Even Ferrari are targeting this: the 360 is very friendly to drive (supposedly) and is a huge improvement in this respect over the F355. I do know what you mean though, you wouldnt want to drive it to work etc...not what the car is made for..
but theres one thing where you are very wrong, "these cars" arent for showing off how much money we have. theyre for driving. it seems youre buying a 360 for all the wrong reasons.....

First of all, I think you've hit the nail on the head. Even if a supra beats a Ferrari, which one is a toyota????
You can talk turbo's til the cows come home, its still not a Ferrari.
Jay, even if you think buying a Ferrari for that reason is a dumb one, which I partially agree, any reason for buying a Ferrari is a good one. There aren't enough Ferraris in the world.
Don't forget to post pics when the spider arrives. What color combination will it be?

The car is going to be red with black interior. I love the color red.
Ok ok... there could be other reasons, but if you think about it hard enough, it all comes down to money. I had to drive an hour just to go to place that can get me a Ferrari. I went there two times. The first time, i got no service because i wasn't "rich" looking. I had on sweat pants and a t shirt. So because the salesman didn't think i even had enough money to buy a Ferrari, he didn't even bother to approach me. But the next time i went there, i was wearing shirt and tie ensemble. And once i got through the doors, someone finally asked if i needed help. So it does come down to money. You don't have the money (or even look like you have money), you're not getting a Ferrari.
Another reason why people get Ferraris.... the girls.... do you know how many girls ask you for rides when they see you in a ferrari?? I don't know first hand cuz i dont have one yet, but girls love fast cars... and ferraris are FAST.....
Going back to Jay's comment about driving them daily, who would drive a nice ass car to work every single day? You park it in a garage, some hater might come by and scratch it all up. I don't believe that all porsches are exotic enough to compete with Ferraris. Ok, maybe the 911 Turbo, GT2, or high end models are still worthy of its name, but the 924? The boxster? The 924 and the boxster is more of a daily driver, but not the turbo or the gt2.
I'm not saying that all people who buy ferraris are just show offs, but it is a way of showing their wealth.

Well, i kinda assume if you have a Porsche or ferrari you wouldnt park it out on the street but rather in your office car park etc...
and the Boxster is a fine Porsche, one of the very best sports cars in the world today, probably the most finely balanced car out there. Exquisite. Im sorry, but if you think thats not a true Porsche you know nothing about Porsche and what it stands for.

I still disagree. When (if) i buy a Ferrari it will be because i love Ferraris not to let people know im rich... "hey look at me everybody i drive a Ferrari, now why dont you follow me as i drive home and break into my house?"
No. this is not a good thing about owning exotics. some discretion would be nice but unfortunately you cant have it with cars like Ferrari. looking cool in a car is one thing, showing off your wealth is quite another

if i had £100,000 to spend on a car, i would not be buying a Ferrari, i would more than likely buy a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R and spend the £60,000 on turning into it into the fastest road car in the country. Half the fun in cars is playing with them and doing them up, not buying them straight off the shelf.

I know that I am in on this late, but the supra is a nice car. I've had one and it was fun to drive and it is easy to mod and "beat up on ferrari's with", but lets compare twin turbo to twin turbo.
MKIV Supra vs. F40.....Hmmmmmmmm.....
Yes there are two more cylinders, but who's counting.
I do think that every car should be modded. If I got my hands on an F40...up goes the boost. And then after that nothing serious, just the larger turbo's and upgraded camshafts from the factory, if they are still available. Then again....up goes the boost. And lots of track time she would have.
The Ferrari, regardless of which one, still to this day gets me that feeling of when I saw my first one when I was a little kid. The Supra will not do that for me.

Modifying a Ferrari is a sin!
DPG
02-19-2003, 12:23 AM
Is it such a sin to make something gorgious even better?
I'm sure Enzo would agree. He built the cars to sell to generate funds for the racing program. Racing was on his mind. Why do you think that they made the larger turbo's and upgraded camshafts that you could buy from the factory for the F40? It is for that person that see's nothing perfect. Perfection comes from the dream of making a sports car better.
Example: What about the Digi-Tec 360 that was in the December issue of Forza that netted a 25-30 horsepower gain from the computer. It is making a great ride just that much funner to drive. Also Chris Parr's F40 that graced the cover of the same issue. Purely gorgious in my mind. He added completely functional parts to the car.
There is a qoute that sums it up pretty well on page 43 in the last paragraph of that article.
"Some enthusiasts treat their Ferraris like pieces of art, carefully storing them away in temperature-controlled garages. Others find that the real pleasure of owning such an incredibly wonderful piece of engineering means using it as its makers intended, and constantly improving its performance as technology allows."
I am not trying to start a fight or anything, but I hope you see my point of view.
Thanks,
DPG

I have to tell you guys up front. I have a 94 accord. I just wanted to hear what you had to say. Coming from someone who owns neither i enjoy both. When i am driving along and see that supra pass me engine screaming and driver smiling i love it. When i see that one in a lifetime ferrari driving by on friday night i almost snap my neck looking. Both are amazing cars and i think you should be happy with having them. I love to race...Am i fast..NO..but i love it..The speed the fun whatever love it, its all about the cars you guys have a good night.

Actually Enzo probably wouldn't think too highly of modifying them mainly b/c he wasn't too big on the idea of turning Ferrari into road going cars in the first place(I've read this in research and herad this on several shows about Ferrari).

Well maybe I am wrong about Enzo, but just b/c it is a Ferrari does not make it a sin to modify. Having someone kick my ass in a modded 360 or if the heavens would have it, a modded F40, then all the better. I respect a person that much more b/c they are using the car for what it was intended, sport driving, not cruising for chicks showing them that you have alot of money. I am not saying that everybody that has one is in it to look good, so don't chastise me.
And what is the meaning or definition of a road going car?
Are you saying that Enzo would have been mad if I modded an F40?

I really have no idea what Enzo would think. I don't have any problem with modified Ferrari's as long as it's done right and sounds good too. For my personal self though I would add exhaust and leave it alone.
I also agree with you 100% about driving it. Even though I wouldn't cruise for chicks neccesarily, it wouldn't bother me one bit if they wanted to go for a ride. Especially if they fine.:hehe:

Thanks,

actually i have to say i dont think Enzo would have been too happy... we all know what happened when Ferrucio put forward the notion that Enzo's cars could be improved :hehe:
besides, its not impossible to think of your Ferrari as a piece of art and drive the nuts off it too! im not the only one who thinks like that!

There is a line between a piece of art and "man that is a bad ass car".
A piece if art stays inside and the "bad ass car" gets battle scars (just hopefully not too many). There is a difference also between making the car better in the sense of, the original person did not make it good enough in the times and for its intentions, and making a car better for the sake of the love of racing. If it was thought in this way, my fathers Malibu would have much more power and many more luxuries. It has to stop somewhere. If you take a car that was created by Enzo or created in Enzo's view and stay along those lines of creativity, then I think he would not have a problem. But taking a Ferrari and putting a body kit on it or totally changing a complete aspect of the car, then yes there does seem to be a problem. I can't believe that Enzo thought that everything that he made was perfect and no one should touch it, if so, he was not thinking in the right mindset.
No hard feelings, just sharing my opinion.
Your opinion is fully understood Crazyjay.
Thanks,

no hard feelings at all! :)
im just saying i think a car can be an object of art and a badass car at the same time... e.g the 996 GT3 is a phenomenal racing weapon and at the same time, it comes in an evocative, legendary physical form... i'm fine for tuning most cars, but when you get to Porsche, Ferrari etc... that breed, for me anyway, is made to be worshiped as it is born
cheers,
jay
