Ok, here is the deal, the AEM EMS (the best price and functions in an ems right now) will only work with obd1 + cars. I am planning an engine swap for next fall, and this is the time to start making plans on paper. I wanna drop in a b18 (a, b, c?) and turbo it. I am gonna go all out and I DEFINATELY want real ENGINE MANAGEMENT, not just tricking the computer. I may use a vafc until I can secure the money for ems, but that is besides the point. So, I wanna convert the car to be obd1, do I need to swap harnesses? modify it? what is the deal. Anyone know where I can find info about this? I remember there was a guy who put a gsr engine in his 4th gen, with the harness and the cluster and the hydro tranny and everything, can someone give me a link to his info?
Any help would really rawk. also, which 1.8 is best for boost, I am willing to do pistons and rods, and cylinder suport and all. This is going to be a serious engine that will be a realiable daily driver too. v-tech is not really necesary, I don't really care about that. but it does have a techno-geek kinda appeal to me :D Please help me out guys.

I personally like the B18b over the B18a just b/c it's a newer motor. For boost either is okay....if you want to spend more money than you could go Vtec and get a B18c1 those boost pretty good if you do run a good FMU. I have heard nothing but positive things about Honda Data. If you got the cash than go B18c1 (GSR) if not than go B18b...if your going to boost more than 6-7 psi or so i would tear the motor down and get forged pistons and use a thicker head gasket to bump up compression a bit.

If you are talking about converting it OBDII, here is a link to a 4g with a b18c5(integra type-r) engine, integra gauge cluster, and hydraulic tranny.

that is all the help i can offer.
I am planning on swapping a LS/VTEC Hybrid in my car. I have heard that it is a great engine to turbo or maybe go all motor. I have heard that i think the LS(b18b) is a good all motor and i think the GSR(b18c) is good for turbo. anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong, b/c I'm still not for sure on all of this stuff.

i think that it's the LS that's good for turbo and GSR is good for all motor. LS has low compression and is built pretty tough. the LS tranny has longer gears too, so you're at full boost for that much longer. that's just what i read though, no real experience.

yeah, I thought the non-vtec was better too, but my real question is, what do I need to do to be able to take advantage of the AEM ems? just make an adapter and plug it into the non-obd harness, or do I have to do a harness swap?
