95 blazer radiator housing

here is another one my fan keeps hitting the bottom part of the big plastic housing that holds the radiator in there are 2 halves and the top holds the radiator in place other wise I would take the whole thing out...
I have shimed it,, and ground it ,, even filed the blades on the fan the fan blades just knick it and drives me nuts any ideas what to do i may have lost the spacers inbetween the to halves of the housing this is why I have been shimming it... anyway, can I eliminate the whole thing pain in the butt

If you eliminate the shroud, the engine will overheat. The most common reason the fan hits the shroud, is when the motor mounts wear. The engine may set lower, or lift up off of the mount on acceleration, which in turn, allows the fan to contact the shroud.
