Piston Slap

I was wondering how many other Transport owners experience piston slap in their 3.4 L engine. I have a 98 and it is pretty prominent in the start up, but completely disappears once its warmed up. I'm not getting any noticible oil usage, and my miliage is still great. Just curious if it is common or if anyone has had any serious problems with it.

Piston slap was a trade mark of the 3.1...I have no real knowlwdge how this was carried on to the 3.4, which basically is same engine. SInce you say t disappears after some time, I'd be tempted to ask if it could be valve lifters instead...but in both cases, beside the annoyance, there is no operational consequence.

I have a 94 3.8, and even when it was new, it would clatter (still does). I was told it was the fuel injectors. After 106K miles and almost 14 years, it still makes the noise, but runs just fine.
