GREAT suggestions btw guys on my post concerning what i could do with my 90' 4d. Anyway, one of them made me wonder a little bit and id like a few specifics. The issue at hand is the MPFI conversion. Now, ive heard lots of people suggest that I upgrade the dual point fuel injection to the newer mpfi version. However, the site that you linked talks mostly about total motor swaps. DO you guys have any info on just the fuel injection conversion? I know its possible...saw an article on it awhile back in honda tuning but i wasnt smart enough to save it. Is the 200 dollar kit you guys speak of the conversion im talkin about...or something designed for the total motor swap method?

If you add another 100-200 bucks, you can get yourself a Si d16a6 motor, that would be my choice instead of the MPFI swap, its gonna cost some money if you want to get it done right IE: ECU, Harness, manifold, Injectors...Best bet is to invest into a real Si motor.

forgive me if this is a stupid question, because my knowledge of honda mods extends as far as basic bolt ons....but are you talking a motor swap for 400 bucks plus the old motor? Had no idea they were that cheap.

I was saying that for 400 dollars(or cheaper), you can get yourself a complete running Si engine with tranny. It would be much better than the MPFI swap, plus you get the extra .1 liter of displacement and the more aggressive camshaft the Si motor has. Not to add the overall horsepower you get more from Si motor than a MPFI swap.

does anyone know where i might be able to get ahold of one of these motors in washington state, or somewhere on the west coast that might ship me one? Granted it would have to be a motor without a million miles on it ;)

Comeon guyz don't let him waste his money. You could get a d16a6 (92-95 si vtec motor) for $200 more. You will have to wire the vtec but other than that it is a bolt in engine that will give u 125-130hp over the 108 u would get from the 88-91 d16a6 si engine, not to mention the fun of vtec :)

you mean d16z6

i had a feeling this would happen. in the original post he was asking about exterior types of mods. asked about an intake. i simply suggested the MPFI conversion so that all intakes can be used and the little HP gain. now everybody is suggesting more and more expendive swaps. heck, why stop with the sohc vtec...why not a b16? :flipa: jeeza louisa...not everyone is looking to race.

gonna go with just the mpfi conversion. Where can i find a good, reliable kit that will include all the parts i need to do this?

there isn't actually a kit. you would have to go to junkyard for it all.

the site was supposed to have a store already but i busted up my wrist. when the store does happen, i plan to have a section of used parts for conversions and swaps. if you want to wait i could possibly have it all going in a month. i do plan to have MPFI conversion...jer had mentioned making a good how-to and maybe we'll take pics as it goes...

ami

ps, if your in a rush i might be able to locate parts for ya ;)

Im not in a super rush, so go ahead and give your wrist some rest and put up the store whenever ya feel ready. Sometime though, if you have time, could you email me a basic list of the parts im going to need, so that I might head to local junk yards and price them?

I would be willing to sell you some of the parts for the swap. I have the intake manifold with everything on it and the distributer. I decided to sell these and use that money towards my new engine.... If interested I also have the si wiring harness. All you would need after that is the ecu ($20-60 on ebay) and the injector resistor box ($10-30 on ebay). Some choose to rewire their harness instead of connecting the new wiring harness. Personally id rather not have to rewire but it is your choice. [email protected]
