why does my car hit its max psi and start to drop so much? am i getting a leak somewhere or do these cars just loose boost that quick? or is my boost gauge shitty? i have an aftermarket boost gauge in the car so its not the shitty factory one. when does your guy's cars start to lose boost?

Have not set up my mbc yet its on its way here still. i have the boost gauge line T'd into the small hose on the back of the manifold, then it runs up along the fire wall to just b4 the driver side shock tower has a loop, then down into where the hole is in the fire wall and up under the driver side counsole and up to the top of the steering wheel cover thing. lol if u would like ill get a pic of the line from under the hood and where my gauge is mounted. it dosent seam to backfire i can feel it lose power tho after it peaks, its still fast but i feel it letting up. also one more question. does the car not hit boost when revving? bc when i rev and watch my boost gauge it reads 0 no boost but when im in gear and driving it gives me boost readings. thanks for the help and sorry for all the posts i get outta hand sometimes, i get jumpy and cant help my self.

HAHA I no what you mean.. yeah post a picture and If I had to guess I would say its prob your factory boost solinoid.. but you will be bypassing that when you install your MBC so I wouldn't worry to much about it right now untill you install that..
yeah you won't really build boost cause there is no load when your clutch is in.. if you hold your foot to the ground and let it bounce off the rev limiter it will probably build a pound or two..

Thats how its set up. =/

How bad is it on these motors to let it bounce off the revlimiter in neutral?

You have a boost leak somewhere. Its not uncommon for this to happen.

If you said you were hitting 12 PSI and then only holding around 9 PSI to redline like in 2nd and 3rd gear, I would say your fine and thats perfectly normal. Our turbos are so small they can only hold about 9-10 PSI to redline, and sometimes up to 11 or 12 if you have a downpipe, aftermarket exhaust and every other mod you can have to open up breathing for your turbo.

But since you said about 5 PSI (especially since the wastegates are set at 6), you definitely have a boost leak somewhere. It may not have anything to do with your boost gauge install, but you can double check the connection where you T'd it off and at the connection at your boost gauge.

Another good way of testing for a boost (vacuum leak) is to see what your gauge reads in the vacuum area. When you are idling and sitting still, you should be reading about -20 on the vacuum side. When your driving and you let off the accelerator completely, it should drop below -20 and work its way back to -20 as you come to a stop.

When you get your boost controller, I would recommend doing the vacuum reduction mod, if you haven't already. There's step by step instructions on 3SI, but I can't link you to it right now because appearantly 3SI seems to be down at the moment. This will eliminate a lot of places where a boost leak could be occuring.

If all else fails, pressure test.

Edit: Just saw your picture. I really can't tell by that picture. If you look here http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_viewItemBundle.asp?idProduct=24072 the plenum on the left (TT plenum) you can see two nipples coming off it on the upper left side. Tapping into either one of those will work just fine. Sorry I can't find a better picture of it right now.

well it does read -20 in vacuum and it does drop a lil bit below that when i let off the gass not alot tho just a lb or 2. it might hold 6 at redline. its just so close to the 5 that i didnt really check to see if it was like dead on 5 or not but ik its like rite there. see if this link helps see it.
