Is there a classified area to the forums? I've been seeking out 3000GT spyders because I would like to buy a Sunday driver.
thanks

3SI.org has a decent classified section

Yeah, it is unlikely you will find someone on AF here with one for sale. I would check 3si, ebay, autotrader, etc. Best of luck with the purchase and welcome to AF.

they go for anything from 15k to 45k depending on trim, miles, and condition. Autotrader always has a few, but you gotta be willing to travel, lol.

Sunday driver! Wow i would kill just to own on of those cars, great choice in a car definitely well worth the value and rarity. I would look at cars. com and auto trader i see them in there once in a while.

Hi to all, Thanks for the welcome aboard.

I remember the spyder at the 95 Philly auto show and always wanted one.

I've been tracking the cars for sale since 2004 in an excel sheet. Mainly ebay but some other for sale sites too.

I'm finally ready to purchase. I noticed that the production numbers are pretty similar between 1995 and 1996.

I have plenty of 1995 cars tracked, but you rarely see a 1996 for sale.

Is there any truth to the rumor that a lot of these cars were taken back to mitsubishi before being sold and disassembled to parts due to poor sales?

i was wondering if theres any proof of that rumor as well...definitely post if you find out.

the only difference between 95 and 96 that i can think of is the ECU...went from OBD I-II hybrid to OBD II...
did they remove any of the toys for '96?

I've tracked 55 - 95's for sale since 2004. (27 VR4's and 28 SL's)
I've tracked only 6 - 96's for sale. (5 VR4's and 1 SL)

Sounds kinda uneven?

Well that's only online right? You can't possibly be tracking all sales. Not to mention its only a three year span. How long do people on average own a car? Let alone a car like that. '96 is a collectors item even more so than the 95.

the average car is owned for 36-45 months. in fact its becaome more common to lease than buy(fuck that shit) and most leases have become 27 months(gm/ford) or 36 months.
but yea i doubt anybody who owns a spyder will fall into that catagory.
hot3000 found like 3 or 4 last night, i dont member the site, i'll call and ask later, or she'll post. there was one vr4, and that was 43g, granted it also had only 6500 miles or something like that.

Thanks guys, any links to spyders would be appreciated. The problem is that I have 30k now to buy, but I want to wait for the right one. Low miles, nice color, lower production. When the one comes will my 30k still be with me LOL> ?

I've been tracking pretty constantly the sale (or attempted sale) of these cars in ebay since 2004 (and some other sites).

Did I miss a day or a month here or there? Sure did. But I think I tracked enough to see that 96's are prooving more rare even though the production numbers are supposed to be similar.

Thought I had a nice one a couple weeks ago. 8700 miles on it, red 96 VR4 spyder. The person selling it wasn't the owner. Apparently the owner was having some tough times and wasn't capable of selling it.

I wasn't going to travel 1200 miles to look at it, when the guy selling it isn't even the owner. I hate that.

Just be patient, one will appear. Last year, about this time, there were two that were on Ebay at the same time. Both had less than 15,000 miles and sold for around $32,000 each. I looked closely at them and considered buying one but, thats a lot of money for a poor boy. Another came up recently and was supposedly owned by the VP of Mitsubishi North America or something like that. It only had about 9000 miles. The bid went up to a little over $31,000 but didn't make reserve. I would be patient and meanwhile, put a few more dollars away. The low 30's seem to be the going price for a really low mileage example.

Thats the car I bid up to 30k. It was offered to me, but after talking to the seller 3x I turned it down. Lots of inconsistancies with his story and he finally revealed that he wasn't the owner.

In my opinion, now is the time to buy one of these cars. It seems you can grab a VR4 spyder in the 20 to 30 thousand range. Not bad for a nice clean low milage used car, let alone a low production, hi horsepower, droptop.

I cannot even begin to tell you if this car is real or a scam but amongst other 3000gt's here is a 95 vr4 spyder...black...84000 miles... looks like $23000 ... prolly a scam but WTF... try it...!!!

http://forusedcars.com/Cars.aspx?make=Mitsubishi&model=3000GT

and the direct link to the spyder

Looked closer and found another white spyder on the next page..95 but doesn't say whether its a turbo or not...67224 miles and $19000 here is the link
