Rear Access Open Wrning

Our 2003 Yukon continually displays the 'Rear Access Open' warning on the console. This happens even though the door is closed. It also periodically sounds an alert related to that situation, a kind of loud ding-ding that startles me every time.

The dealer promises only to look for the problem. His bill could wind up high and he doesn't give any promise of fixing it. We'd just as soon disable the sensors and get rid of the problem -- but where are they? We can't figure that part out. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

The "door ajar" switches are usually located in the latch that physically holds the door to the body of the truck. i guess it would depend on whether you have the fold out type barn doors (2 doors open out to the sides), or the pull up liftgate (goes up). If you want to grab a flashlight, take a look down by the parking brake pedal. There is a wiring harness just to the left of the pedal that sometimes gets rubbed through by the pedal. This may not be your case, but if you find wires rubbed through (copper wire will be showing if a wire's insulation has been rubbed through), see if there's a pink wire with a black stripe rubbed through. If there is, you've found your problem. If not, it was worth a shot :)
