Questions about Tamiya Ferrrari F2001 Full-View

I'm just starting out with this hobby and for my 2nd model, I plan to build the Tamiya F2001 (Full-View Version). I got a few questions about it:

1) I have read in a website somewhere that the F2000 Full-View had both clear and non-clear parts, so you can mix and match as wanted. For example, it has both clear and non-clear front wings. Is the F2001 like that too?

2) If it's clear only, would it be possible to still paint over it, just like colored plastic?

3) Has anyone built or seen this model? Does the interior have more detail than the non Full-View version? I've only seen a very few small pictures of it online.

My brother got the clear Mercedes CLK-GTR.
1. His car, the body comes clear, as well as the trunk area, basically the body parts, his wing came in black, as for interior and engine, came in the usually black and silver.

2. Sadly, my bro. painted his car silver rather than leaving it clear, it's like any old plastic!

Plastic's plastic, so even if it's clear plastic you can still paint over it. The only difference between clearview and regular kits is the body parts are molded in clear plastic. The F1-2000 Clearview comes with clear and nonclear bodies but the F12001 doesn't. I built a clearview Ferrari F-50 it's in the gallery.

if it's your 2nd project, maybe you should way a bit.. it's a bit difficult and with the price, you can't miss it !

As far as i know, you do get the red plastic body parts as well as the clear. Clear styrene plastic is much more brittle than regular styrene and is uite tricky to work with for a beginner. I agree with Vric, perhaps choose something else.;)

I ordered the kit from HLJ a couple of days ago, since this is a kit that I would eventually want to build and it was on sale. I will follow your advice and build easier kits before I move on to the F2001.

How about the 350Z, would that be easier?

Yes, the 350Z is one of Tamiya's new "as few parts as possible" kits, that would make a great introduction kit.

It is easier, Tamiya designed this along with the new WRX to be a very straight forward build by molding the chassis and the majority of its components as one piece. This makes things much more difficult to paint and can be very frustrating especially if you have little experience. I for one hope they don't make any more kits like this but i get the feeling these are not the last.
