i wanted to know if i blow my head gasket,what are the chance of something else going bad???should i take the head off and replace the head gasket or should i take the whole motor out and get the block check out??now this is a complete rebult long block with only 3,000 miles..

why do you think there is somthng else wrong? I would just change the head gasket.. that or buy a new motor and give me the one with the blown head gasket ;wink;

Blown head gasket after 3,000 miles? Sounds like improper installation or something else is wrong. Did you compression test? If so, what were the results?

I wouldn't run around with a blown head gasket. Things that could possibly happen could include overheating, coolant and oil mixing together which could lead to spun bearings, lack of power or cylinder not running at all, etc.

I think he knows not to drive it, I think he's just asking if he should just slap another new gasket set in there or check to see if maybe there's some other problems by pulling the engine and what they might be.
Head/Block mating surface could be warped/cracked (you can't see all cracks by eye). Who did the rebuild and why was it done?
