22in Rims on Linclon LS?

The other day, I was with some folks and I saw a Lincoln LS that had 22in Rims. I never though that this could ever happen because the wheel well look small on the car. When I talked to the guy, he said that the ride was much smoother than the stocks he had on there and when he had the rims put on there, the car required no mods, no cuts, and they don't rub? :screwy:

I am thinking about rims for my LS and I do not drive the car everyday. How safe is it to put 22in rims on the LS and what are some of the other things I must consider. Will 22in even fit without mods?:banghead:
